An introduction from our next Club Captain Mike Hoult
For those who’ve not been privy to the “grape vine”, I have been selected to be this golfing year’s club captain, so I’d like to begin this note with a big thankyou to the past captains’ faith in me.
Of course it is an honour to be chosen to represent the club and its members, but it should not be forgotten that as captain I am merely there to build the hard work of our golfing staff and previous captains, and to promote the friendly and inclusive atmosphere that they have instilled in the friendliest golf club I know.
Like all those before me, I shall use my time to fund raise for a charity in a way that complements our enjoyment to help others less fortunate; therefore, this year I hope you will all join me to raise money for Guide Dogs.
I would also like to especially encourage those of our members who, for whatever reason, shy away from competitions because when we’re doing it for charity, it’s all about fun, fundraising and is anything but judgemental – I hope they continue to be simply great social occasions where friends and families meet and make new friends.
The traditional captain’s drive-in and drive-in competition will be held on the 1st April and before it is said by anyone else, I know, I couldn’t have chosen a more suitable day! Please join me when we’ll have a fun competition started off with bacon butties and tea/coffee – details to follow.
The only other date I’d like you to mark in your calendars is the official charity day on the 1st July – again more details to follow.
For those of you who are unable to play in any of the year’s charity events, I will be setting up a Just Giving page, which I hope you’ll take advantage of to donate a few pounds every now and again.
If we are successful and raise enough money, one lucky guide dog will be named Abbey, in honour of our support. I hope you like the sound of that as much as I do.
More about the charity in due course, but for now, hello, I’m Mike Hoult, Houlty, Hoults and perhaps one or two other nick names that shouldn’t be printed here and, if I can help you in any way with issues at the club, please simply contact me on [email protected] or via the group WhatsApp (and if you’re not on that, just get hold of Abs Rohomon and he’ll add you).
Continue to take care.
Kindest
Mike
