Abbey Golf Club AGM info – The Abbey Golf Club

Dear fellow Members

To say its been a strange year could be an understatement of epic proportions, I don’t think any of us envisaged 2020 quite going the way it has, and hopefully there will be a solution soon but it looks like we may have some time to wait. The good news is that we are able to play some golf, not quite the same as we used to and the socializing element is sorely missed but at least we are playing.

Its this time of year we prepare for the AGM, its usually a quite intimate affair so perhaps nothing new this year on that front, but of course we cant meet up in person therefore we need to use the wonders of modern technology to host a virtual one instead. Luckily we have our very own version of Bill Gates in Shawn Carr who will be helping us to achieve this. Details will be at the bottom of this mail.

So it will follow its traditional format with the agenda attached, we have also put the nomination board by the golf shop along with the minutes from the last year, they will also be on the website, another new addition to the club and can be found at www.abbeygolfclubredditch.com. This will replace the app for a lot of technical reasons that frankly I don’t understand but Shawn does, however, those tech savvy out there can save the website to your smartphone or tablet as a quick link, if you need any help then please find a teenager in your family. Here you’ll find competition results, information and other information. There is a public area and private area for members you can request to join. You’ll also find here a new way to pay for and enter competitions to make life easier as the current card payments doesn’t allow us to get enough detail on who has paid, we’ll send more details soon when that will launch and also the shop have agreed to take exact change cash payments for members if its easier for you. Finally, we will also update you on submitting scorecards moving forwards whilst we continue to live with Covid 19 as golf hubber has encountered numerous technical issues. If you want to nominate yourself or someone for a committee position and don’t feel comfortable entering the shop to do so then you can submit your nomination via e-mail to [email protected], please cc anyone who is nominating or seconding you and I will have them added to the nomination board for you. Attached are a copy of the forms on the board so you can see positions available.

The link will take you to the virtual AGM to start at 19.30 on Tuesday 24^th November. It will also be live on the club Facebook page. If you use this link you will see all the presenters and there will be the opportunity to ask questions via a comments section, unfortunately we cant have members able to ask questions or comment any other way but Shawn will be moderating and able to ask on your behalf. Please bear with us on the night as it’s a first for us as well so I’m sure we’ll have a few slight technical issues but we’ll get through it together.
