Club Championships 2023 – Rules
Entry fee – £5 each | Format – Medal | Tees – White |
Cards – your cards will be done for you, they will be individual. You must swap with a member of your team. You enter their score in column A and your score in the marker column. Just enter your score for the hole (please make it clear)
Medal – you must hole out on each hole. There are no give me.
Out of Bound – the course is defined by white posts that mark the out of bounds, you must look between the two posts either side of your ball to identify the boundary line. It is the line between both posts (straight line).
If you go through a hazard and then out of bounds, you must go back to where you played the shot for the penalty drop. It is not where it went through the hazard. Going OOB carries a one-shot penalty. If you are in any doubt play a provisional, to save time and the long walk. Always declare it is a provisional and what the ball is.
There is NO provision at The Abbey to take a drop where you believe it went Out of Bounds for a penalty shot. Play again from where you played the shot.
Bunkers – we are making as good an effort as possible to get the bunkers better, if you land in one, please rake it properly and the surrounding area. The recent down pours have shifted a lot of the sand. All will be in play.
Ball marking – when on the green, mark your ball to the rear. This saves any confusion, and always replace the same way. If you are asked to move your marker, pick a fixed spot and use the putter head to move the marker on that line. Don’t forget to replace it.
Water – if your ball goes into the water, you must have actually seen it go into the water. Belief is not enough!!
If you have seen it, you can either play again from where you are (one shot penalty) or take a drop (two club lengths, with the one shot penalty) at the point where the ball entered the water in line with the flag. (Not nearer the whole).
A drop is from the knee.
Rough – if you are in the rough, you cannot move the ball. If you need to identify your ball you can move it in situ to see your mark and then rotate back. You cannot improve your lie.
GUR – tree on the 11th (right hand by ditch) and 13th in right hand copse ditch. Both marked GUR. Free drop not nearer the hole, in line from tee to green.
