As many of you may already be aware, this weekend is our Captain’s Drive-In, taking place on Saturday, 5th April 2025, with the first tee time at 7:40 a.m.
This is a really exciting and significant day for the Abbey Golf Club, as we’ll be formally introducing Julie Rosado – our first ever female Club Captain in the Club’s history.
Julie has chosen Acorns Hospice as her Captain’s Charity and has put a huge amount of effort into making Saturday a memorable day for everyone involved.
On the day:
- Prizes will be awarded for the winning pair.
- There will also be mini-competitions for:
- Nearest to the pin on 6
- Nearest to the pin in 2 on 18
- Longest drive on 12
If you’d like to take part in these, you can buy in for £2 per challenge.
Entry for the Captain’s Drive-In is £10, with all proceeds going to Acorns Hospice.
Julie has also organised a raffle with some fantastic prizes up for grabs. Raffle tickets are ÂŁ5 per strip (and yes, Julie specifically asked me to clarify she’s referring to a strip of tickets!).
On arrival:
- Cards will be ready for you on the day, with your team handicaps already filled in.
- We’ll also provide a printout of the rules for this Texas Scramble Pairs competition at the beginning of the round.
- No need to sign in on the touchscreen or “HowDidIDo” beforehand.
At the end of your round, please:
- You will now hand scorecards in. HDID and the Touchscreen will not be used tomorrow
- Hand your scorecard to a member of the committee
Coffee and a roll will be available from 7:00 a.m. at Tawny’s—so be sure to pop by before your round. While you’re there, you’ll also have a chance to sign up for the mini-competitions and raffle.
Lastly, once you’ve submitted your scores, we kindly ask that you stick around to support Julie Rosado as we announce the winners of the main competition, mini-competitions, and raffle.
If you have any questions, just speak to a member of the committee or drop us an email at [email protected].
Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday—it’s going to be a great day!
