The 2023 Abbey Order of Merit is now live. Here is how it works.

The Order of Merit at our golf club recognizes exceptional performance throughout the season. Points are awarded based on the following system:

1st place: 10 points
2nd place: 8 points
3rd place: 6 points
4th place: 4 points
5th place: 3 points
6th place: 2 points
7th place: 1 point

Please note that the allocation of these seven places is dependent on a minimum of ten participants in a competition. If there are less than ten participants, the number of places awarded will decrease accordingly. For example, if there are nine participants, only six places will be awarded, with first place earning 8 points, second earning 6 points and so on. Additionally, in order for a point to be allocated, there must be a minimum of two participants in a competition.

For competitions that are normally run continuously over 2 days (Weekend and Midweek Comps) Order of Merit is awarded to the top 7 performances over the 2 days of competition.

This year, we have made an exciting update to the Order of Merit by dividing the Weekend category into two separate tables, ensuring a fair and competitive experience. The categories for the Order of Merit are:

⿡ Weekend (Yellow Tees) – https://abbeygolfclubredditch.com/order-of-merit/oom-yellow-tees/
⿢ Weekend (White Tees) – https://abbeygolfclubredditch.com/order-of-merit/oom-white-tee/
⿣ Midweek (Yellow Tees) – https://abbeygolfclubredditch.com/order-of-merit/midweek-summer-order-of-merit/
⿤ Seniors – https://abbeygolfclubredditch.com/order-of-merit/seniors-summer-order-of-merit/

Regardless of the category, the same points system applies to determine the Order of Merit standings. At the end of the season, all players that have won and OOM points will receive a monetary value for points earned at end of the season which will be applied to the following year’s subs.
